Science Liaison & Project Coordinator

The $2.1mil. DOE funded MakeSTEAM Q project aims to incorporate STEAM activities to enhance student learning through collaboration with Queens College (QC) and NY Hall of Science (NYSCI).

Director of Communication & Science Liaison

The HSI-STEM project is a $5 mil. federally funded project aimed to improve STEM education at 2 colleges by redesigning introductory STEM classes, creating learning collectives led by peer mentors, and writing articulation agreements.

  • Synthesize final data collected over 5-year project to analyze and present at conferences, in peer-reviewed papers, and in public and government forums

  • Writing, content editing, and copy editing peer-review papers

  • Create and post new content for the HSI-STEM website (hsistem.qc.cuny.edu)

  • Designed and implemented 5 successful social media campaigns and 6 events

  • Update the HSI-STEM website to communicate activities with the public (hsistem.qc.cuny.edu)

  • Coauthored 5 published papers, over 5 in preparation, and presented numerous oral presentations and posters at conferences and meetings with government and industry sponsors and partners

  • Redesigned Vertebrate Histology, BIOL 360, for online and hybrid learning in 2020. Utilized pedagogically based good teaching practices to create video lectures to implement a flipped classroom design

  • Examined defects in zebrafish embryogenesis, growth, and survival by individual PCB congeners and Aroclors

  • Investigated the impacts of environmental toxins on heart development in Atlantic sturgeon & zebrafish embryos

  • Identified a novel mechanism of AhR activation in contaminant derived cardiac defects
